The second week of our ‘Arse View Gooner of the Week’ scheme has started; today we interview London Gooner Jonathan Cranfield, aged 24. Also known as Mr. Brighterside, he is another member of popular Arsenal forum Goonersweb. If you would like to have a go at being Arse View Gooner of the Week (it’s not that hard, don’t worry :D), fill in the questions below and send us an email at Arse.View@gmail.com
Full Name: Jonathan Cranfield
Age: 24
Where are you currently based? London
How long have you supported the Arsenal?
since 1989 and the thomas goal v liverpool
What made you become a Gooner?
see above
Who is your favourite current player, and why?
My favourite current player is cesc fabregas. He contributes an awful lot in terms of his crossing and positional sense but has now taken on the goal scoring responsibility too. He also leads the team and marshals the midfield in a way not seen in a long time. The enthusiasm on his face when he scores is second to none
Who is your favourite all time player, and why?
Ian Wright. Phenomonal player with an amazing knack for scoring goals. Again he played with passion that was second to none but his main attribute that I admired was his dedication to the club and that he managed to become a premier league all timer despite only starting playing professionally at 22!
Can you see life after Arsene Wenger?
Yes. He has laid some amazing foundations for the club but I feel certain these could be taken over by another manager some day. The stadium, training ground and youth academy are now arguably the best in the world and this gives any successor the ideal platform to build success. However no new manager is likely to be able to match Wenger’s prowess in terms of spotting talent and nurturing players and finding the right position for them.
What is your opinion on the current takeover situation?
Any takeover could only take away from our revenues and quite possibly increase our debt. I would be against it for these reasons. Also we have no gaurentees that any future owners would not interfere a la chelsea in team affairs.
What are your thoughts on the Arse View website?
whats that? :S
great site with insightful editorials
and lastly…
Would you support Spurs if someone offered you £10 million?
For one match maybe, for life I couldn’t handle it. Supporting a club who’s only point of success is in spending the most on overpriced talent and buying any player so long as they are english! well done spuds but I hope you stay where you are now! (relegation zone).
That’s the Arse View Gooner of the Week for this week. If you’ve got any questions about what it entails, or would like to comment please use the ‘comments’ function below :D. By the way, we’ve gotten your emails for all those that have sent them in- don’t worry, we’ll be publishing them in the next few weeks and will tell you when we do ![]()

Cesc Fabregas is my favourite player too… for different reasons :p.
And absolutely loved that goal at Anfield in 1989!
honestly, who gives a damn about the opinion of a quite random person? i mean your blog is quite alright, the design is cool, but these interviews aren’t interesting at all.
Hey Jerome,
We care what the average AFC fan thinks
Perhaps you don’t find them interesting, but judging by the last response, quite a few people do. It’s great to get some insight on fellow Gooner’s lifestyles, wouldn’t you say?
More and more Spanish players hold leading role in EPL. After Fabregas, we will yet to see the day Torres becomes the captain of Liverpool.
